Academia del Pueblo

Mrs. Marisela Hoover recently won the Silver Apple Award winner from Channel 3 and the Sylvan Learning Center.  She was nominated by Paul Pacheco. Two years ago, Paul was assigned to Mrs. Hoover’s classroom and at the time, he could not read.  Paul transferred to Academia del Pueblo from another school. His parents were eager for Paul to have the type of education that his older brother received the year before. 

As all new parents that come to our school, they know that it takes the commitment of teachers, students and parents in order for a child to succeed. It is a community in which everyone takes responsibility.  During his first year at Academia, Mrs. Hoover tutored Paul during her lunch time and special area classes; she motivated him by offering incentives and taught his parents how to assist Paul at home. 

Along with Mrs. Hoover’s energy and persistence, Paul’s parents’ commitment to the school and Paul’s dedication to his school work, their efforts paid off as Paul is now a fluent reader with a bright future ahead of him.
