Family Services:

The holiday is a tough time of year for many families. 2008 was not different from any other year. One gentleman came to Friendly House and received a Christmas food box for his family of five. The social service worker asked him if he was able to buy any gifts. He replied that he was not but that he was grateful to receive the food box. The social service worker handed him an extra large trash back and took him to the back of the office.

He selected two gifts for each of his daughters. He was so excited, as he had not expected to have anything to give his children. And then, he was handed gift wrap and tape. As he left the office, he threw the bag over his shoulder just like Santa Claus. His emotion was powerful and all the staff in the area were deeply moved by the experience. This was a true moment of Christmas.
